Why is logging in with my Barion app more secure than using a password?
All online services require a username and a password for access, which means everyone uses dozens of passwords every day. Without a dedicated password manager, sharing passwords, using the same ones on different sites, and creating simple, easy-to-guess passwords are quite common, and make it easier for hackers to access accounts.
When you add the Barion app as an authentication method, you can sign in using your biometric authentication (fingerprint or facial recognition), screen passcode, or unlock pattern instead of your password. These authentication methods provide more secure and convenient access than traditional passwords.
Barion implements FIDO2, which is the collective term for the Fast Identity Online Alliance’s newest set of strong authentication standards and protocols. FIDO2 offers a passwordless authentication solution, so you don’t need to remember complex passwords, or go through tedious password reset processes. Adding the Barion app as an authenticator is an easy-to-use additional layer of security for your money.
